SUMMARY We are looking for an ambitious Junior Accountant to provide support to the TANF department by managing daily accounting tasks.
You will be part of a team of professionals working to maintain order and transparency for STTP and the Tribe’s finances.
This individual will compile and maintain records of financial transactions for the TANF department, government and any entity of tribal government.
Monthly distribution of duties and support in any accounting procedures deemed appropriate by the TANF Director, Accounting Manager and/or Controller.
DUTIES AND RESPONISBILITIES Although other duties may be assigned, the essential duties include the following: Verifies, allocates and posts details of business transactions such as funds received and disbursed, and totals accounts to ledger or computer spreadsheets and databases.
Updates financial data in databases and ledgers to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed.
Assist in preparation and reconciliation of complex bank reconciliations.
Assist senior accountants in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings.
Interaction with external auditors on as required basis.
Update accounts receivable and issue invoices.
Update accounts payable and perform reconciliations.
Process and verify payments and deposits made through company accounts.
Daily preparation of various journal entries and data entries to general ledger.
Complete TANF State and Federal quarterly financial reports.
Perform all other duties and functions as requested by the TANF Director, Accounting Manager and/or Controller.
Collaborate with Financial Managers and other team members to successfully execute various accounting tasks.
EDUCATION B.
S.
in Accounting preferred.
Education may be substituted with work-related certificates, training classes and years of experience.
EXPERIENCE 2-5 years’ experience performing accounting related duties and responsibilities.
Familiarity with Navision or similar Fund accounting software, ADP and Paychecks System a plus.
QUALIFICATIONS Must have full understanding and performance experience of general ledger, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Must be neat in appearance with a customer service attitude.
Ability to read, write and speak English.
Ability to complete delegated work assignments.
Ability to handle highly confidential materials and computer literate.
Effective written and oral communication skills for monthly reporting.
Provide superior customer service skills.
Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Able to organize workload in order to meet deadlines.
Knowledge and competency in accounting principles and practices.
Ability to use accounting and payroll software.
Excellent personal relation skills.
Sensitivity to a multi-cultural environment.
Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
REQUIRED A current California Driver's License or California Identification All applicants are required to complete the pre-screen Background Clearance and Drug Testing.
