*Title: *Staff Accountant
*Department:* Accounting
*Hours:* 40 hours per week (flexible to meet program and client needs)
*Job Summary:* Staff Accountant reports directly to the V.
P.
of Finance and is responsible for providing financial, administrative, and clerical services.
Performs all responsibilities promptly, accurately, and efficiently in accordance with policies, procedures, and accounting functions.
*Essential Functions:* · Maintains a complete and systematic set of records for specific grant financial transactions and reporting based on each grant requirements.
· Setup new grants in accounting system, reporting systems, and grant tracking tools.
· Prepare internal grant reports as requested by the V.
P.
of Finance.
· Work with program staff to identify and certify compliance and financial issues.
· Prepares periodic grant financial reports, invoices and payment requests.
· Prepares monthly reclassification and allocation entries in QuickBooks.
· Assist in data entry.
· Assist in preparing various annual state compliance reports.

*Minimum Education and Experience:* BA in Finance or Accounting and/or two years relevant experience.
Two years’ experience with QuickBooks.
*Preferred Education and Experience:* BA in Accounting and three (3) years’ experience in a non-profit agency and experience in non-profit grant or contract compliance.
*Other: * * Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel and experience with QuickBooks accounting systems.
* Working knowledge of federal and state grant rule and regulation compliance would be helpful- not required.
*Skills*: · Ability to work effectively with volunteers, outside grant funders and coworkers.
· Thorough understanding of the organization’s Vision, Mission and CREED.
· Highly developed interpersonal skills and effective in working objectively with a diverse group of people.
· Team player willing to accept and promote organizational goals and function with minimal supervision.
· Detail oriented and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
· Ability to make decisions based on education, preparation and experience, which reflect consistency with organization philosophy, policies and procedures.
· Flexibility and efficient time management with the ability to prioritize workload.
*Language Skills*: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing to various levels throughout the organization.
*Mathematical Skills: *Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area and volume.
*Reasoning Ability*: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
