The IT Support SME provides IT support to the Marine Corps Tactics and Operations Group (MCTOG) at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC), Twentynine Palms CA.
The IT Support SME takes work direction from the Site Lead and Project Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Identify system problems due to system component connections and notify appropriate entities.
Conduct sustaining engineering support for the network systems.
Assist Government personnel with installation design, install new cabling, equipment, and associated hardware and software to extend and enhance network systems.
Assist in administration of the network storage arrays and Email Archiving System.
Operate and maintain network management systems to include primary and limited functional backup network operations centers and in-band/out-of-band network management systems.
Identify system problems due to system component connections and notify appropriate Network Owner for problem resolution.
Establish new user accounts, configuration & support for laptops, and the configuration/adjustment/maintenance of commercial cell phone assets and remote email services, assist users with remote/VPN access.
Arrange and coordinate with hardware maintenance personnel for the repair of Network IT equipment.
Troubleshoot and assist with software and hardware problems for Domain Users.
Assist in maintaining the Configuration Baseline for all Laptops and Workstations in the Command.
Assist in maintenance and inventory of VoIP Phones, STE Phones, VTC’s, Printers, and Audio-Visual Equipment.
Test and document components for communications architectures.
Assist personnel in the upkeep, organization and cleanliness of the Server Room and associated Network Closets within MCTOG facilities.
Assist in updating section operating procedures.
Develops and implements solutions to enterprise environment issues.
Installs and maintains the following C2 systems and software applications: JTCW, C2PC, TCS, JBC-P, AFATDS, EMT, JADOCS, TBMCS, CLC2S, TCPT, and other commonly fielded C2 systems and software applications used at all Echelon’s within the Marine Corps’ COC.
Reconfigures the communications networks, provides communications instruction to the using unit, and provides instructions on the setup and integration of the C2 applications and hardware.
Tests and evaluates interoperability procedures with current and future C2 systems.
Travels to conduct on-site instruction and technical assistance as required to include field training environments and participates in mobile training teams.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described.
EDUCATION Educational background and experience in information technology and computer science.
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) (preferred).
Applicable network certifications required.
EXPERIENCE Must meet DoDI 8570.
1‐M Information Assurance workforce program requirements for Information Assurance Technician level 2.
Minimum three years of experience in DOD computer network administration.
Network Engineering Experience.
At least six years of experience in a professional IT-related role.
At least six to eight years of related work experience in IT, which should include successful experience of leading or managing a team of technical resources.
Documented experience of Cisco routing, multi-layer switching and Cisco voice telephony.
Experience with integration of government purchased simulation support hardware/software at government training sites, Internetworking with TCP/IP and Cisco routers, distributed simulation protocols/communication technologies during remote location operations.
Have experience in UNIX, Linux, Microsoft Operating Systems, and principles of database installation, configuration, and operation.
Must have experience with TCP/IP, Ethernet (IEEE 802.
3), 10base2, 10baseT and other similar protocols.

Knowledgeable of distributed simulation protocols/communication technologies in support of remote operations conducted at various selected sites.

Able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Able to design and write clear communications and present training programs.

Excellent interpersonal skills WORKING CONDITIONS Required to sit or stand for extended periods of time and maintain focus.
SPECIAL POSITION NOTATIONS Occasional travel CONUS/OCONUS may be required.
Qualification as an authorized company driver is required.
All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company’s auto insurance provider.
SECURITY CLEARANCE Secret clearance is required for this position.
