Job Description: Switchboard Mechanical Engineer
Reports To: Owner
Shift / Hours: Full Time Classification: Exempt Non-Exempt
Job Summary: This position is responsible of switchboard mechanical design and engineering by generating drawings and bills of material utilizing 3D modeling and CAD technologies for the purposes of fabrication and assembly of the product, to meet customer ship dates and specifications.
Supports ERP implementation and integration, this position requires attention to detail, quality control of designs and meeting of design milestones.
Supports production team with design inquiries and corrections.
**Note- Pacific Electric will be relocating to Corona in 2024.
Essential Job Functions & Tasks:
Collaborates with management and senior staff across production departments and roles to Maintain Engineering Schedule on Time
Interacts with submittals department to initiate the creation bills of material based on quote, specification and single line diagrams with the purpose of procuring materials.
Maintains Design Engineering Milestone Schedule and communicates committed dates to Production Manager and customer service department via ERP environment.
Communicates with sales, customer service and customers (when needed) to obtain clarifications and/or requirements needed to engineer orders.
Works with electrical engineer to incorporate control components in the equipment design and bill of materials.
Mechanical Design
Responsible of mechanical design of current switchgear sales orders.
Generation of 2D and/or 3D model for new and existing standard designs.
Generation of product 3D models and assemblies.
Follows UL guidelines for designs
Bills of Materials
Leads the creation and assembly bills of materials using 3D models
Maintains and improves existing bills of material for accuracy and product updates.
Works with Submittals, Inventory and procurement teams to keep bills of materials up to date, including substitutions,
DXF File Generation and CNC Programming Interaction
Leads the Creation DXF Files for parts that require programming.
Interacts with programing department to ensure DXF files are accurate and ready to be programmed.
Mechanical Engineer Quality Control
Creates, Advocates and Implements quality control processes and practices in Mechanical Engineer to reduce the number of parts rework and engineering correction.
Implements assembly and fabrication team feedback form to improve and correct mechanical designs and bills of material continually.
Qualification Requirements
3+ years experience
B.
S.
in Mechanical Engineering preferred, but years of experience will be considered in place of a degree.
Hardware:
Technical Skills | Software: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Microsoft Office Suite,
Specialized Training/Knowledge: Minimum 3 years’ experience in the design of Electrical Distribution Products.
Some college work preferred with plans to achieve a degree in Electrical or Mechanical .
