Job Description and Duties Under the general direction of the Correctional Plant Supervisor, the Supervisor of Building Trades in this position supervise (1) Carpenter III (3) Carpenter IIs (1) Painter III, and (3) Painter IIs, (1) Plumber III, (7) Plumber IIs and Maintenance Mechanics, schedules material flow and staff work assignments; maintain orderly job progress to insure that projects are carried out according to plans and specifications; maintains orderly records, prepare reports, write Budget Concept Paper (BCP), Capital Outlay, Budget Change Proposals, write contract specifications, requisition supplies, materials, tools and equipment; prepare work orders, cost estimates of labor and materials for projects; assigns and supervises the work employees engaged in the installation, maintenance and repair of building facilities, mechanical and electrical equipment; reviews and approves vacation and sick leave request, prepares probationary and annual performance reports; meet daily with shop supervisors to review and discuss current work loads.
Coordinates all trades related work at satellites (3) within the CIM Complex.
Assures shop III’s work trades staff at satellites on building projects or trades related questions.

Maintains and monitors the daily staff sign-in sheets; maintains order and supervises the conduct of persons committed to the Department of Corrections, prevents escapes and injuries by these persons to themselves or others or to property; maintains security if working areas and materials.
