JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Water Truck Operator/Laborer
Department/Division: Utilities
Status: Full-time / Hourly / DOE
Shift: Monday-Friday, occasional nights and weekends
Supervisor: Utilities Manager
Subordinates: None
POSITION SUMMARY:
Operate water truck and may assist with other construction equipment.
Required maintenance is routinely completed on the units, defects are reported, and units are returned in a clean, satisfactory condition.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Water Truck Driver:
Control dust on job sites.
Maintain daily maintenance schedules check oil, hydraulics levels, and engine oil, coolant levels, fuel level, grease as needed and exhaust fluid levels to maintain full operating levels.
You must take direction for the prep and daily operations from the Utilities Manager and report directly back with equipment or job site issues daily.
Adhere to safety regulations while maintaining vehicles (googles, gloves, caution with chemicals, etc.
)
Report hazards on the to management.
Take actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, and other workers.
Consider the safety of other workers, staff members, and customers during duty to avoid injuries and other casualties.
During the downtime, the employee will be expected to help the other positions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Daily check off per DMV standards/requirements.
Clean and wash assigned equipment.
Laborer:
Maintain a safe and clean work environment
Work with others to complete tasks and assignments.
Use a variety of tools and equipment to perform tasks.
Perform routine maintenance on various construction sites.
Load and unload materials from trucks or other vehicles.
Operate various construction machinery.
Maintain equipment and tools in good condition.
Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures.
Communicate with supervisors and coworkers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, CERTIFICATIONS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses repair, and maintenance.
Knowledge of mechanical equipment operations and equipment mechanisms.
Knowledge of safety rules in operating equipment.
Ability to read labels, safety warnings, and guidelines
Ability to receive and follow instructions and communicate with co-workers
Ability to perform physical activities like kneeling, crawling, jumping, and lifting, amongst others.
Ability be able to lift 100 pounds or more.
Ability to endure extremes in temperature or harsh weather conditions.
Attentive to detail and alert at all times to ensure safety
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must be able to drive a manual and automatic dump truck.
Must have a valid California Driver’s License in good standing.
Minimum 1 year of experience operating multiple pieces of equipment, dump trucks, water trucks, and more.
Must pass pre-employment and random drug testing (including marijuana) before a job offer.
Must acknowledge and agree to maintain a drug-free workplace as a condition of employment with the Pala Band of Mission Indians.
Indian preference will apply.
