This is a hybrid leadership position working for Groundworks but operating full time in Southern California and western Arizona.
The position requires a valid driver's license; individuals holding CDL license will be given priority in the selection process.
This position requires an individual that has a strong personality, is healthy and hardy and who is accustomed to being outdoors, nearly full time, in the heat and weather.
The successful individual will be a self-starter who does not need to be closely and constantly supervised.
In this position, the individual spends a significant amount of time on the road driving a company provided pick-up truck moving from farm to farm between Yuma Arizona and Indio California and often times is sleeping in a hotel (at the company's expense).
This position is not a good fit for an individual with any kind of family or other responsibilities; there is often little or no notice at all of the need to be at a given farm and, upon hiring, the selected individual will be
required to come to Florida, at the company's expense, for 2-3 weeks to be trained in the various skill sets needed.
In this position the individual will oftentimes meet with customers of the company to hand select palm trees for an order so presenting well, having strong communication skills and a friendly demeanor are important.
A bilingual individual (Eng/Spanish) will be given priority in the selection process.
Basic computer skills are required as most instruction is rendered via email.
The successful candidate does not need to have any experience with Palm Trees or in the nursery industry but he/she must be accustomed to being outside in the heat and weather.
Mechanically adept individuals will also be given priority in the selection process.
Personal honor and proven trustworthiness are absolute requirements; as a requirement of this position, the individual is initially required to pass a short polygraph every 3 months with questions specific to theft.
Failing a polygraph is cause for summary termination.
Groundworks will do a criminal background check and individuals with theft related criminal histories will be disqualified.
