Director of Manufacturing Engineering & Process Development
The Director of Manufacturing Engineering & Process Development holds a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing our manufacturing automation and process agenda.
The primary objective is to develop, produce, plan, and prepare the highest quality products at the lowest cost for on-time delivery while minimizing after-sales support.
Responsibilities:
• Facilitate the overall execution of strategic automation capital projects, ensuring safety,
timeliness, and budget adherence by coordinating with production facilities and resource
allocation.
• Develop and execute a manufacturing engineering strategy based on industry best practices and
regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with local leadership and key stakeholders to design and implement strategic and
tactical initiatives for manufacturing and supply chain automation and process development.
• Lead or support a diverse team of engineers and project managers across structural, electrical,
and mechanical disciplines for existing, new, and expansion projects on a global scale.
• Integrate new technologies, insights from previous projects, current regulations, and safety best
practices into new projects.
• Establish and guide capital project leads in developing, reviewing, and continuously overseeing
project management best practices to enhance execution efficiency and company profitability.
• Develop performance metrics for execution resources and instill a high level of accountability
and rigor in project and process management.
• Collaborate with the National Director of Standards, Technology, and Transformation to manage
and adapt a multi-year capital strategy for companywide manufacturing and supply chain
expansion.
• Evaluate and enhance manufacturing methods for maximum efficiency and competitiveness.
• Lead eventual Industry 4.
0 initiatives and Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
implementation.
• Build and develop a high-performing team in Manufacturing Process, System Controls, and New
Product Development (NPD) engineering that achieves efficient and effective results.
• Collaborate closely with Product Development and Manufacturing Process Engineering to ensure
designs and prototypes align with mass production requirements while meeting safety, quality,
compliance, and cost specifications.
• Communicate with vendors and contractors to understand equipment and facility specifications,
costs, and lead times.
• Communicate performance expectations, results, and mitigation actions clearly and effectively.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical/manufacturing engineering, Construction Project Management,
or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering.
• Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong process mapping and development skills.
• Experience managing major capital projects, such as plant/equipment expansions or greenfield
site start-ups.
• Experience in the manufacturing industry.
• Experience working with diverse business teams.
• Project management experience with strong attention to detail.
• Strong organizational, leadership, and influencing skills, with a proven ability to manage teams
and multiple projects through direct and indirect reporting lines.
• Ability to implement innovative solutions to complex problems through technology, automation,
partnerships, and resource leverage.
• Ability to read architectural and engineering drawings, with knowledge of CAD design software
as a plus.
• Knowledge of various mechanical systems and proper maintenance protocols.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships both internally and externally.
• Solid financial acumen and experience in creating business cases for capital projects.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple capital projects concurrently.
• Skilled in managing tight schedules and working under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and CAD software, among
others.
