Job Title: Planner Estimator
Department: Facility Operations and Maintenance
Job Summary:
The Planner Estimator is responsible for allocating available material and labor resources; honors the constraints of scope, schedule, and budget; assists project coordinators and project managers with project development; provides design estimates for feasibility studies and conceptual designs for developing customer and internal budget.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None Duties/Responsibilities: Prepare estimates for maintenance work orders; transfer estimate data to appropriate accounting and scheduling data management systems Consult with clients and personnel in other departments to discuss task scope Assist with field assessments for asset labeling Review work requests, verify asset information, and add/correct job plans Aid in the development of Preventive Maintenance plans and assignments Collect and input asset data into CMMS program Assist in the procurement of materials for task completion Complete assignments under the direction of senior planner team Inspect in progress work to assure that work is being performed as planned, and in compliance with safety codes and regulations Assist project supervisors and field personnel in constructability issues; evaluate proposed field changes and estimate change orders Prepares work to be accomplished by gathering information and requirements; setting priorities Prepares construction budget by studying plans; updating specifications; identifying and projecting costs for each elevation Evaluates offers to purchase by costing changes, additions, and site requirements Obtains bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors; negotiating prices Maintains cost keys and price masters by updating information Resolves cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Maintains quality service by following organization standards Maintains continuity among corporate, division, and local work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies Required Skills/Abilities: Proficient in written and oral communication skills according to skill requirements Possess strong computer skills, able to read, write, and comprehend written instructional documents Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume Ability to apply concepts of introductory algebra and geometry Proficient Microsoft Office productivity suite Strong understanding of mathematics and ability to understand, analyze, compare, and interpret detailed information, and to be able to make sound and accurate decisions Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent At least 4 years of cost estimation experience Physical Requirements: Prolonged period of standing, bending, reaching, and working with hands Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer Occasional periods of prolonged exposure to loud noises Ability to lift up to pounds at times Ability to stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands as necessary Ability to hear and see to position and safety requirement levels Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals Special Qualifications/Requirements: Must be able to successfully pass as required a federal, state, or local government's background investigation Valid state driver's license Disclaimer: The duties and responsibilities described are not a comprehensive list and that additional tasks may be assigned to the employee from time to time; or the scope of the job may change as necessitated by business demands.
