POSITION OVERVIEW
Desert Champions is hiring an Assistant General Manager/Bar Manager for NOBU – Indian Wells to join our team.
NOBU is a world-renowned Japanese Restaurant.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following: Ensure that all NOBU standards are incorporated into the daily operations of the restaurant, including profitability, and monitoring of costs and controls without compromising guest satisfaction or quality.
* Comply with Desert Champions and NOBU policies and procedures, as well as applicable laws and regulations governing health and safety in the workplace.
* Maintain NOBU standards for product and service quality, restaurant cleanliness and sanitation, and speed of service.
* Responsible for management of safety training and safety adherence.
* Handle daily operations of the restaurant and bar, such as staff scheduling, maintaining inventory, creating menus, tracking customer behavior and sales, maintaining documentation, planning for events, purchasing of liquor and other supplies, as well as delegating tasks and supervising service.
Work closely with staff, chefs and other managers to ensure guests have extraordinary experiences.
* Assist with team training, mentoring, supervision and motivation of team.
* Train and develop hourly employees through hiring, orientations, ongoing feedback, use of training materials, establishment of performance expectations and by conducting performance reviews.
* Prepare hourly employee schedules to meet the staffing requirements for each day as determined by the General Manager.
* Assist with handling staffing responsibilities, including hiring, training, scheduling, and terminating.
* Adhere to and enforce cash management systems.
* Accurately complete designated duties such as inventory control, ordering of products, cash control.
* Exercise professional judgement and diplomacy when dealing with all staff, management and customers, in all situations.
* Maintain excellent working relationships with guests and develop client loyalty, including VIPs and regulars.
* Ensure guest service in all areas are up to NOBU standards.
* Respond to customer complaints, taking prompt and appropriate action to resolve problem and ensure customer satisfaction.
* Assist in optimizing profits by controlling product and labor costs.
* Expected to exercise good judgment in decision-making and reporting issues to the General Manager.
* Initiate and maintain vendor relationships for the bar program.
Manage purchasing of beverage and bar supplies and oversee the use of food and beverages within required dates and with a minimum of waste.
* Work cross-functionally with the Corporate Beverage team to ensure quality and service standards are met.
* Calculate future needs in kitchenware and equipment and place orders, as needed.
* Supervise staff in terms of food preparation, customer service, cleaning, and repairs to restaurant and grounds.
* Coordinate communication between front of the house and back of the house staff while promoting cooperative effort, a team spirit, and good morale among employees.
* Perform daily inspections and periodic audits to check safety of equipment and to ensure that food is cooked properly, addressing engineering problems involving the cost, installation, and maintenance of such equipment.
* Participate in training about standardized policies and conferring weekly with general manager and owner management about restaurant operations.
* Assist with administering payroll and maintaining records of sales and cash receipts including related areas of accounting, budgeting, credit policies, and banking methods.
* Understand how to keep detailed records of daily, weekly, and monthly costs and revenues.
* Assist with providing regular, accurate, computerized reports of operations to general manager and owner management.
* Help with duties of other employees (e.
g.
, cashier, server, cook, etc.
) when necessary, because of an unexpected absence or extra volume.
* Perform other duties as assigned, as a representative of Desert Champions and Nobu, including the ability to fill in as the acting GM when needed.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE At least 2+ years of restaurant management experience in high volume environment.
Experience in upscale and/or Japanese restaurant.
Prior experience managing a bar program or employment as an accomplished bar manager/mixologist preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in related field or higher preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Strong leadership ability and interpersonal relationship skills.
Attention to detail, organization, and customer service.
Knowledge of food, beverage, and hospitality industries.
Positive, energetic, punctual, and reliable.
Calm under pressure: must have the ability to problem solve, trouble shoot, effectively prioritize work and assignments, and accurately meet deadlines.

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS California Workplace Harassment certification or obtain within 30 days of the hire date California Food Safety Training certificate or obtain within 30-days of hire date California Responsible Beverage Service certification or obtain within 60-days of hire date.
LANGUAGE ABILITY Ability to speak effectively with Guests, Sponsors, VIP customers and employees of the organization.
Must read, write legibly, understand, and speak English.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations COMPUTER SKILLS Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Comfortable with hospitality and sales technology platforms.
Experience working with Micros Symphony and/or Open table a plus.
