SUMMARY
The Engineer executes the maintenance/operation of the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and other mechanical systems throughout the property to ensure safe and proper operation.
Performs preventive maintenance and assists with guest requests for maintenance as required.
CORE FOCUS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
Performs all work orders assigned.
Performs or assists in all repairs, maintenance and new installations which pertain to HVAC and other mechanical equipment Performs preventive maintenance according to PM Schedule.
Report to the Director the state of the physical plant.
Maintain proper environmental conditions throughout the Hotel.
Supporting Functions: In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the Director of Engineering based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.
Work diligently on achieving the goals and objectives assigned to you by the Director of Engineering.
Participate in technical and quality assurance training.
Participate in weekly safety/shop meetings.
Maintain adequate inventories on hand.
Due to the nature of the business, the incumbent may be required to do other duties and special projects as assigned by the Director of Engineering.

Extensive training knowledge of safe working practices.
Visual ability to read manufacturer’s instructions, schematics and blueprints, to determine wire colors for safe repair and color coding.
Knowledge of construction and building systems.
Ability to translate technical information or problems into layman’s terms.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE At least 2 years in hands on work experience in buildings with complex electrical/mechanical systems.
Individual should have broad, practical experience in the fields of stationary engineering, building maintenance, plumbing, HVAC and electrical wiring.
He or She should be familiar with work and limitations of various crafts, particularly licensed workers who are employed in building maintenance.
LANGUAGE AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to understand guests’ service needs and requests.
Ability to acknowledge the guests’ request with a polite answer.
Must be able to satisfactorily communicate English with guests, management, and other team members to their understanding.
Additional foreign language preferred.
Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.
REASONING ABILITY Demonstrate the ability to anticipate and solve practical problems or resolve issues.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving guest and operational issues maintaining a positive attitude.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Electrical License, Refrigeration License, Fire Safety or any other combination of hands on experience or certifications / education.
