SALARY GRADE: $17.
84 hour (Non-Negotiable)
SUMMARY: This position is under the direct supervision of the Project Manager (“Manager”), to perform duties to monitor the flow of traffic around road construction sites.
The flagger's responsibilities include informing motorists of possible detour routes, reporting disobedient drivers to law enforcement officials, and answering motorists’ questions.

Must be able to direct emergency vehicles safely through construction zones as required.
This position requires a person who will be dedicated and observant at all times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
I nclude the following.

Maintain a consistent and unrelenting focus on safety throughout all job functions
Hold a Stop/Slow paddle upright in conjunction with appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication’s with drivers.
Direct vehicles around the road construction site(s)
Communicate with other flaggers and construction personnel
Place traffic cones and construction signs
Follow tribal, company and federal guidelines for effective, safe and well-managed work zones
Record information about disobedient drivers
Arrive to work site on time wearing proper protective equipment, including work boots
Perform related duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is not assigned supervisory responsibilities.

Ability to conduct traffic control with little to no supervision during the course of the day
Ability to use hand signals and direction signs to direct traffic around road construction sites
Ability to communicate with other flaggers using hand-held radios to direct two-way traffic onto a single lane
Ability to informing the construction crew of any traffic issues that may affect their safety
Ability to follow directions
Ability to work as part of a team
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Must be a High School Graduate or equivalent
Proven experience working as a flagger a plus
Must have reliable transportation
In lieu of education requirements, additional work experience and/or trade school is acceptable.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Exceptional communication skills
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy
Non-verbal communication methods such as hand signals, signs and utilization of other devices as needed
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must be able to attend flaggers’ training and obtain certificate.
