There are no "fair weathered" techs at our company.
Bottom line, we want a SMART person with COMMON SENSE and electrical troubleshooting ability.

*COMPANY* "WMC" is an Operations, Management, Service & Repair company maintaining two wind energy power plants in the Palm Springs area.
No travel required.
We are a small family company with around 17 employees.
We strive to make working at WMC an enjoyable experience where you wake up in the morning & don't mind or even look forward to coming to work.
*WEATHER* Please note it is a tough job working in the wind industry.
Climbing 85-180 ft tall towers in the 110's summer heat (record 123F) or the 40's winter cold (record low 19F), it takes a unique individual to succeed.
*JOB DESCRIPTION* _(detailed list of activities you will likely perform)_ We are looking for a long term, career orientated person.
MUST speak fluent English for safety reasons.
You will be teamed up with an experienced lead technician & will provide an assistance role.
Tasks may include service & maintenance, consisting of visual inspections, tolerance checks, measuring mechanical & electrical components for factory specs, checking torques, lubing multiple components with varying types of grease & oils, repair & replacing components, troubleshooting circuitry & electrical components ranging from 24 VDC up to 3-Phase 690 VAC devices.
Organizing truck inventory, prepping the truck for the day's jobs, production of paperwork in the form of inventory control related requests, work orders, taking of detailed notes.
You may also work with Cranes, Boom-trucks & 3rd party vendors on items anywhere from rebuilding entire wind turbines, to troubleshooting substation & high voltage related applications with management.
Some days you might find yourself in the shop rebuilding parts for your crew or other crews.
There will be a constant mix of regular service, maintenance & repairs to keep the job interesting as well as working with different crews periodically.
This also helps with our cross training on other turbine technologies, so you understand our entire range of wind turbines.
Other misc.
roles will always crop up; everyone should be willing to help out with anything at WMC.
*We want someone who understands:* Tools & their correct use Mechanical applications Safety Importance of torques, alignment, tolerances & factory specs Bearings, gearboxes, pumps and motors The importance of lubricants Electricity & how components work with one another Always looking at the big picture While the description above relates mostly to Lead Tech qualifications, we want to hire people that can ultimately learn enough to fill a Lead Tech's role when the timing is right; so ultimately you will either need to know or learn everything that is listed above.
*REQUIREMENTS* O High school graduate or GED with a preference for an Associate Degree in electronics or equivalent field, or equivalent two-year technical training in electronics or equivalent field; or military training in electronics O Requires a good working knowledge of computers, electronics, & electro-mechanical devices O We wish for a Min.
of 2 years field service experience in troubleshooting & repair of mechanical, electronic & electro-mechanical devices, but not a deal killer.

O A basic background in computer hardware & software as well as a basic knowledge of computer controlled equipment O Must have excellent personal & interpersonal skills to interact with a variety of personalities (meaning our unique and talented team members) O Ability to lift 150 lbs a very short distance (up to 10 ft) O Must have a valid driver's; DMV report & company paid drug test will be required O Must pass a supervised climb test to determine if a fear of heights exists *HOURS & BENEFITS* Job entails a 40 Hr week, some Overtime required.
Some weekend & holiday shifts required.
Monthly ~$470 contribution towards Medical benefits are available for the employee for Medical, Dental, & Vision.

The pay scale at the company is $20-40+/Hr plus benefits.
Coming in at the bottom expect $20 depending on skills, if you prove yourself, you can move up the pay scale faster.
Raises are typically $1/Yr.

On the rare and odd occasion we get someone exceptional, and they have received a $3/hr or more in raises.
We try to pay what your skills offer, what the equipment you work on allows us to afford, versus simply time in on the job.
