Title: Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic
Reports to: Station Manager
Position Summary:
Inspect aircraft engines, landing gear, instruments, pressurized sections, accessories-brakes, valves, pumps, and air-conditioning systems.
Maintain records related to maintenance performed on the aircraft.
Mechanics may also repair sheet metal or composite surfaces.
Mechanics rely on the pilots’ description of a problem to find and fix faulty equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Ability to always maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
· Knowledge of computers
· General knowledge of federal regulations
· Ability to read and understand blueprints.
· Ability to read and understand aircraft wiring diagrams.
· Ability to legally operate a motorized vehicle.
· Performs routine inspections and troubleshooting, including airframe structures, engines, aircraft system.
· Performs all airframe, power plant repairs and modifications required to meet company and FAA requirements.
· Removal and disassembly of defective parts; assembly and installation of replacement parts; and testing aircraft system
· Operates all power tools and equipment necessary to accomplish job assignments.
· Completes all required maintenance records.
· Accurately records time worked on work order.
· Interprets technical manuals, drawings, and blueprints.
· Tows and parks aircraft
· Performs other aircraft maintenance work as may be required.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications, skills, and abilities:
· High School Diploma or Equivalent
· Possess a Valid A&P License
· Knowledge and Understanding of the English Language
· Excellent Communication Skills
· 1 year of previous line maintenance experience required.
· Experience and/or training on at least 2 aircraft types - A319, A320, A321 required.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical, as well as an FBI criminal background check.
· PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess the ability to:

Stand

Lie down.

Kneel

Climb stairs, scaffolds, or ladders.
5.
Frequently lift, pull, and hold objects weighing more than 70 pounds.
6.
Noise and vibration are common when engines are on, so ear protection is necessary.
* Working conditions: A&P Mechanics usually work outdoors, sometimes in unpleasant weather.
Mechanics often work under time pressure to maintain flight schedules to keep from inconveniencing customers.
At the same time, mechanics have a tremendous responsibility to maintain safety standards.
