*TITLE: FOUNDRY MANAGER (CASTING DESIGNER)*
*CLASSIFICATION: *Exempt
*REPORTS TO: *San Jacinto General Manager
*SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE *
Plans and designs manufacturing processes in the industrial plant.
To include casting and gating design for green sand, dry sand, and perm mold foundry processes.
Maximizes efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization.
Determines parts and tools needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specification.
*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS* Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
* Review drawings and models from external customers and internal tooling acquisition * Evaluate drawings and models to determine the best process within Foundry operations.
* Determine core requirements, method of manufacture, and core machine.
* Develop and design gating systems.
* Decides if value added items to the gating system are cost effective.
* Work alongside engineers to make products that meet customer specifications for metallurgical and dimensional requirements.
* Direct in-house pattern shop to ensure tooling is built to run efficiently in foundry operations.
* Assist production and quality staff with tooling improvements and/or modifications.
* Must be physically present with regular and dependable attendance.
* Must be familiar with green sand, permanent mold, and casting design.
* Experience managing ISO 9001:2015 quality system.
* Six Sigma / Lean manufacturing experience preferred.

and Pattern Shop *WORK ENVIRONMENT* This job operates in an office setting with occasional Foundry walkabouts.
Routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Employee is exposed to Foundry atmospheric conditions such as fumes or airborne particles, noise, extreme weather, vibration, and moving mechanical parts.
Note, personal protective equipment (PPE) is required when entering the plant to include ear plugs, safety glasses, and steel toe boots.
Disposable masks are optional.
*PHYSICAL DEMANDS* The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and/or hear.
Although mostly a sedentary role, occasional standing and walking is required.
Additionally, incumbent must use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.
This position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
*POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK * This is a full-time position.
Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday.
*TRAVEL* Little to no travel is expected for this position.
*REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE* * Bachelor’s Degree in manufacturing/industrial engineering * 9+ years of experience * Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures with the aluminum casting and machining field.
