The Water System Operator II is the journey level classification.
The incumbent shall be expected to perform a broad range of tasks and duties, assess and prioritize work to be done.
The incumbent shall have a level of experience in the following: Performs in the construction, installation, repair, and maintenance, of water distributions mains, water services, fire hydrants, meters, disinfection equipment, and associated appurtenances.
Ensure proper use of safety equipment and wears protective apparel which includes subordinate personnel.
Sets up and removes traffic control and directs traffic at work sites.
Performs required main shutdowns, has the ability to utilize hand and power tools and machinery.
Conducts on-site inspection of water facilities, makes minor repairs to said facilities.
Operation of motorized (Commercial/Non-Commercial) vehicles, and related equipment, tools, methods, and techniques is preferred.
Provide oversight of water system utilizing SCADA system, participate in the Standby (On Call) rotation schedule.
Perform field water quality sampling, understand the use of computers, and have the ability to exercise computer skills relevant to the position.
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school, equivalent school, or GED certificate
2-3 years of water industry experience
Must have and maintain a valid Class C driver’s license issued by the State of California Department of Motor Vehicles at time of hire and insurable on company policy.
Within 6 months of hire date, must have and maintain a Class A or B driver’s license with air brake endorsement issued by the State of California Department of Motor Vehicles, employer will assist.
Must have and maintain a valid Grade 2 Water Distribution Operators license issued by the State of California Water Resources Control Board, or AWWA/ ITCA at time of hire.
Must have and maintain a valid Grade 1 Water Treatment Operators license issued by the State of California Water Resources Control Board and/or ITCA at time of hire and able to acquire Grade 2 Water Treatment license issued by the State of California Water Resources Control Board, or AWWA/ITCA within 6 months of hire.
Annual Salary Range: $77,438.
