POSITION SUMMARY
Under supervision, to transport patients and materials to various destinations inside of medical facilities; provides patient and family education regarding transfer techniques to be utilized in the post-hospital setting, as appropriate; and do other work as required.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Completion of a recognized training program in basic patient care preferred.
Experience
No experience required.
Six (6) months preferred
Licensure/Certification
Current BLS required.
KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
Medical terminology
Hospital established policies quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control policies and procedures.
Ability to:
Read, write, and speak the English language
Learn the principles, methods, and procedures of proper patient care.
Learn medical facility routines and techniques.
Perform patient care in an understanding and sympathetic manner.
Follow oral and written directions.
Apply proper body mechanics in lifting and moving at least 100 pounds.
Handle patients in a manner, which will not aggravate their condition
Train inexperienced employees in proper transportation procedures.
Use good judgement when acting independent of supervisory guidance.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and fellow employees.
Work effectively under stress and in emergency situations.

Maintains, demonstrates and is assessed on the knowledge and skills necessary to provide for physical, psychosocial and cultural needs appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit.
