There were different pin counts, bellhousings, input shafts; etc.

I also rebuild the 700R4 (4L60) from 82-92.
These transmissions can last a long time under stressful conditions but they really do need more 3-4 clutches, a kevlar band, and a lot of shift upgrades; along with elimination of the pwm pulse width modulated partial converter lockup.
The TransGo reprogramming kit I use bypasses the pwm partial lock because it causes excessive wear in the converter clutch; so this kit locks and unlocks it like the older transs.

I only use Alto racing clutches in the 3-4 stack (NINE instead of just the factory SIX), and a high performance Kevlar band.
I recently picked up some Raybestos Pro Series carbon fiber bands that I'll be trying out.
I use the Sonnax piggy-back 3rd acummulator checkball.
I always install a NEW pressure switch manifold.
I replace all bad solenoids and the VSS.
I double check the ohms at the plug after it's all done.
There are a few other mods in the shift kit that supplant the corvette servo fix.

This is heavy duty RV type of transmission that works well in Trucks, high performance vehicles, and any vehicle that undergoes severe service applications.
Text is best; I've always got my hands in a transmission.
I don't work on cars and I can't assist with R&R.
