Job Summary: In this role you will be responsible for the development, testing and maintenance of the test programs run in the N-seal laboratory.
The job requires collaboration with suppliers, lab technicians, project managers, planners, manufacturing, quality engineers and field service personnel to ensure proper set up of tests, review of results and preparation of reports.
This role will be working closely with customers to provide solutions to issues identified in the field.
Responsibilities: You will be responsible for the R&D lab including stock of test products, working processes and procedures.
You will be required to use your own experience and expertise to help develop internal testing capabilities and processes.
You will help to plan and design tests and experiments, perform the physical testing, acquire and analyze the results and summarize the testing into a report.
You will work alongside an existing team of engineers and lab technicians locally.
You will also help to support R&D work carried out by a team of engineers.
You will provide support for the local manufacturing and assembly teams by helping to solve issues with products though providing direction for rework, if required, with sound engineering judgement and rationale.
You will help solve issues with products in the field by investigating the root cause and providing written summary reports which will be issued both internally and to the end user.
You will also support customers and collaborate with subject-matter experts to identify design or quality issues pertaining to N-seals.
You will work with field service personnel and sales team during investigation and resolution of field issues.
You will assist in the investigation of failed seal faces by participating and leading the inspection of the failed seal faces.
Prepare and issue reports following the investigation of field retuned product.
You will develop detailed drawings required for any modifications of product.
You will prepare test plans and reports for identified and approved solutions.
Record data and report findings to make corrections or changes to test plans as needed.
You will work with suppliers and supply chain to procure materials required for testing.
You will record data and report findings to work.
You will support production and engineering of N-seals with any product related inquiries.
And any other duties as assigned.
Requirements: BS or BA Degree in relevant field and 5–7 years relevant experience.
Previous engineering experience in an R&D or manufacturing capacity.
Proficiency in writing engineering/test reports to convey testing methods and conclusions.
Experience in developing testing programs to meet customer or industry specifications.
Proficiency using 2D and 3D CAD packages i.
e.
SolidWords, Autodesk Inventor or others.
Proficiency in reading detailed engineering drawings.
Ability to develop and create testing equipment and acquire test results electronically for analysis.
Ability to travel to our Vernon, CA, location for approximately 20-30% of the time.
Preferred Experience / Skills: Experience designing, operating or maintaining mechanical seals, pumps, pressure vessels, including industry recognized design codes & calculation methods Solid understanding in design of experiments (DoE).
Root cause analysis & problem-solving experience.
