General Description: Under the direction of the Fire Protection Manager, this position is responsible for the timely development of 100% CD Fire Sprinkler system design documents inclusive with shop drawings, diagrams, sketches, details and other pertinent required documents necessary for City Plan Check submission, approval and permitting.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Review RFP construction documents, product literature, and cut sheets.
Demonstrate Fire Sprinkler engineering design expertise, techniques and best cost-efficient design methods.
Operate design software efficiently for the design of Fire Sprinkler systems inclusive with sketches, P&ID’s, and illustrative diagrams all complete in preparation for installation Create spool drawings that are clearly labeled and accurately dimensioned for construction feasibility and pre-fabrication.
Assist in the development of the systems submittals and approval process thereof Attend coordination meetings to resolve conflicts with other trades in order to obtain a fully coordinated building model.
Maintain all commitments and delivery schedules.
Support the designated Project Manager and field personnel as related to the installation of the intended designed documents.
Coordinate piping with architectural and structural elements of the building design.
Communicate with project managers, project engineers, field personnel, and other collaborators during the construction process.
Other duties and special assignments as directed by upper management to accomplish mutually agreed upon goals.
Position Requirements (Skills, Work Experience, Education, Certifications, Licenses, etc.
): High School Diploma or equivalent.
4-years Fire Sprinkler field construction experience.
3-years’ experience in Fire Sprinkler design and software utilization (NICET-2 certification is preferred).
Must be proficient in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Fabrication, Auto Sprink, Revit, Navisworks, Bluebeam, Outlook, Excel, Word, and Email.
Strong knowledge of Fire Sprinkler systems preferred.
Knowledge of CBC-California Building Code and UPC-Uniform Plumbing Code, NFPA 13, 13D, 13R, 14, 20 and applicable codes and standards.
Capability to interpret 2D construction documents and transform them into a 3D model.
Proficiency in math, good communication skills, organization, accuracy, and problem solving.
Possession of analytical problem-solving abilities.
Ability to recognize design cost efficiencies and value engineering options.
Commitment to detail and deadlines.
Ability to work on multiple projects.
Effective communication with project managers, project engineers, field personnel, and other collaborators during the construction process.
Knowledge of specs, submittals, RFI’s and project document processes.
Knowledge of Prefabrication Operations and processes benefitting Just in Time Deliveries.

Competitive Wages: $73,350 to $94,500 Annual Salary.
