Job Summary:? We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our team on an hourly basis.
As a Staff Accountant, you will provide crucial support to our accounting department by performing various clerical and administrative tasks.
Your primary responsibility will be to assist in maintaining accurate financial records, processing invoices, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial reports.
The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of basic accounting principles, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities: Assist in the preparation and maintenance of financial records, including but not limited to invoices, receipts, and bank statements.
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
Verify and reconcile invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports, ensuring proper coding and documentation.
Assist in the preparation of financial reports, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Support the month-end and year-end closing processes by preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts.
Assist in the preparation and filing of tax returns, ensuring compliance with applicable tax regulations.
Perform data entry tasks, including entering financial transactions into the accounting system and maintaining updated records.
Conduct regular bank and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies.
Assist in maintaining the organization's general ledger and chart of accounts.
Assist with payroll processing, including verifying timesheets, calculating hours worked, and preparing payroll reports.
Provide general administrative support to the accounting department, such as organizing files, managing correspondence, and answering inquiries.
Collaborate with team members to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks and projects.
Stay updated on relevant accounting standards, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and recommend process improvements.
Contribute to the development and implementation of internal controls and procedures to safeguard financial data and ensure accuracy.
Maintain confidentiality of financial information and exercise discretion in handling sensitive documents and records.
Qualifications and Skills: High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
Proven experience working in an accounting or finance role is an advantage.
Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and procedures.
Proficient in using accounting software and MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial calculations.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve discrepancies.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in handling sensitive financial information.
Knowledge of relevant accounting standards and regulations (e.
g.
, GAAP) is desirable.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team when necessary.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism.
